I. Unit Description
The Unit equips a student with knowledge and skills in sound theory, sound recordings and reproduction.
II. Unit Objectives
By the end of the Unit the Student should be able to:
i. Demonstrate an understanding of sound concepts and operational terms.
ii. Analyze modes of sound transmission and its behavioral responses to rooms and space.
iii. Demonstrate an understanding of basic acoustics.
iv. Deploy and operate sound recording and production equipment.
v. Understand Society Motion Picture Television Engineering (SMPTE), Time Code, Frame Rate and Image Synchronisation.
The unit introduces the student to fundamentals of lighting in film. Focus will be on understanding the working principles and set up of various lighting equipment.
